Hydrophobic Testing

The angle between the surface of the liquid and the outline of the contact surface is described as the contact (Wetting) angle . Between 0° and 90°, the solid is wettable and above 90° it is not wettable. In the case of ultrahydrophobic materials the contact angle approaches the theoretical limit of 180°.

The Graphonyx material is super hydrophobic (angle above168> degree) as clearly indicated in the video demo below as the water drop hitting the Graphonyx materials based surface.

The hydrophobic character of Graphonyx material indicates its potential application for super-hydrophobic coatings. Those applications include: Naval/Maritime surfaces, anti-icing of airframes/wings, anti-dust solar panels, outdoor surface paints and window coatings.
